Sunday Gatherings: What to Expect
Sundays 10am at Venue 1906 in Belleville Ontario
Coming to a Church can be an awkward or at least challenging step. We understand so here’s what you can expect:
Casual: We are a very casual, come as you are Crew. We are serious when we say we’re everyday people. So show up in your everyday clothes and be your everyday self. We try not to use stain glass language but we also understand that some things, like singing out loud is kinda weird. Engage as you feel comfortable…. coffee can help.
Connection: We start at 10am with a time of coffee/tea and donuts. We believe that deepening our connections to one another is a vital aspect of our apprenticeship to Jesus. Mingling allows us to catch up, meet new friends and can last around 15-20mins.
Liturgy: This is just a funny word that means a bunch of ways we connect to one another and God through things like: music, reading the bible, praying and silence.
Lead In: Each week someone will provide a 15-20 min reflection on scripture as a lead into discussion. These “Lead Ins” are typically about Jesus or at least always point us towards him.
Discussion? Yes, we believe that having space to ask what we wonder, think or know is a great opportunity to learn from one another. We understand not everyone wants to talk and that’s okay! We encourage everyone to remain present and engaged. Discussions happen in groups of 10 people and do not take place every week.
Communion: Each week we take communion as a means of expressing our desire to follow Jesus. Do we have it all figured out? No. But we are committing to one another and Jesus to engage our apprenticeship together. If you’re not ready to make those statements by taking communion, that’s okay!
Kids Crew: We have a bunch of kids in our crew and they are invited to join our liturgy before being dismissed for their own Lead In. There are weeks where our children remain upstairs the entire time but that is seldom.
