All Things New Week 5: Generous

Welcome To REUNION

We are so excited you are here. We hope that you feel save, welcomed and relaxed. We are going to read the Bible, pray, sing a few songs and listen to a short Lead In. We might even have discussions

But.. you’re invited to participate as much as you want.

No expects you to speak or share. We do invite you to remain present. We believe that remaining present - even in our minds - is an act of love.

Bottom Line: Generosity is the freedom to frequently give a planned percentage away

Jesus says: Matthew 5:33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but carry out the vows you have made to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one

Jesus says: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” (Matthew 6:21).

Top Five things We do With Money (Ron Blue from book: Master Your Money)

  1. Spend

  2. Pay off Debt

  3. Pay Taxes

  4. Save it

  5. Give it

Discuss

  1. Growing up, what did you learn about money from watching your parents? Did anyone ever teach you with intentionality about how to handle your money? Looking back, was it good advice?

  2. Who do you know that lives generously? What makes you think that about them?

  3. Consider Rob’s list above: how does this reflect your money habits and what is your reaction?

  4. Read Acts 20:33–35 aloud. Paul is writing to friends in the city of Ephesus giving an explanation of how he lived his life. What key words stand out to you and why? In your own words, what would you say Paul’s bottom line is?

  5. Do you have a generosity plan? If so, share it. If not, why not?

  6. If you don’t currently have a plan, what’s holding you back from deciding to give away a percentage of

    your income?

  7. What are you grateful for? What breaks your heart? Does your generosity reflect your answer to those two questions?
