Road to The Cross Part 3: John 3

Welcome To REUNION

We are glad that you are here. We hope that you feel save, welcomed and relaxed. We are going to read the Bible, pray, sing a few songs and listen to a short Lead In. We might even have discussions

But.. you’re invited to participate as much as you want.

No expects you to speak or share. We do invite you to remain present. We believe that remaining present - even in our minds - is an act of love.

Today’s Main Text:

John 3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Discussion Questions:

1. John 3:16 is the most well-known text in the Bible. Why do you think that we focus so much on God's judgment and punishment, rather than God's love?

2. Which is easier, living under the law or living a life of love?

3. Verse 17 says that God didn't send Jesus to condemn the world but to save it. How do you see that playing out in the world around us?  How does it affect the way we as Reunion relate to our community?

4. Share a story about a time you felt unconditional love/acceptance from an unexpected person. How did that make you feel?
